Commission
The bark collection of coffee tables are created from solid Cedar cookies. These are slices through the trunk of a tree, and were sourced when a 200 year old tree was felled due to storm damage. The tables have been designed to reflect the textures found in the protective husk of a trees bark. We combined this with the flattened mirrored top surface to hero the organic origins of the timber. We created an intentional tension between the dense mass of the stained ebony timber, and the delicate geometric sculpture of the fabricated steel frame it rests upon.
