Contemporary Furniture Design & Build

From my studio/workshop in the South West of England I design thoughtful and long lasting bespoke furniture. I aim is to change society’s relationship with the objects that surround us by designing objects with careful consideration for their place within the home environment and the impact their materials have an a sustainable future.

Bespoke Commissions

As well as developing my own collections I also work to commission to create unique designs that meet your specific requirements, allowing you to customise all design details.  I aim to build a lasting relationship with you, guiding you through the journey from initial idea to production.

  • The brief is the most important part of your the commissioning journey, where we learn exactly what you want. With a phone call or visit we discuss your ideas, budget and timescale. I welcome your own ideas and see this as chance to create a collaborative working relationship. I carefully digest the information we’ve discussed and prepare an estimated quote. Finally we agree on our shared vision for the project before getting stuck in.

  • Once we’ve agreed a plan of action I will go away to the studio and create a range of initial ideas to share with you. This will be in the form of sketches and mood boards. We will discuss the proposed concepts and help you select a single design direction. I then head back to the studio to refine and detail the chosen design. Using a range of design tools I will communicate the final concept, giving you the clarity to sign the design off. Upon sign off I request a 50% deposit to schedule your piece into the workshop and purchase materials.

  • When I receive the green light I get cracking on bringing the design to life. I will produce a production schedule and confirm the lead times with you. I source the materials and start the production process, at this stage I welcome clients to visit the workshop to see progress. I will be in touch to discuss any design decisions that need resolving and send you images of the piece taking shape if you can’t make a visit.

  • Upon completion and at a suitable time for you, I will hand deliver the piece to you. Where I will carefully install the furniture and give you advice on after-care and maintenance. Lead times will vary depending on the complexity of the piece, however this will be confirmed during the briefing and design phases.
